INTRODUCTION

Dear Athlete or Future Athlete,

The proceeding training program was designed for you to use as a guideline in your pursuit to being the best at whatever sport or activity you choose to participate. It is easy to read and follow. Coaches and parents will also find it useful in training most types of athletes in many different sports. Athletes who train and prepare more seriously than their opponent, will most likely be victorious.

The four most important aspects of this program are; "Strength, Flexibility, Endurance and Mental Preparation". All are essential to your performance and success. If you follow this program faithfully, your physical condition should improve gradually from week to week. Add a sport and proper nutrition to this program, and you will have a powerful tool that will benefit all who dedicate themselves to being physically fit. You must also remember to set mental as well as physical goals to be able to perform at your fullest potential.

If you become sore after an exercise or practice session, try increasing your "stretch", "warm up", and "cool down" times. If you have pain during or after exercise or practice, STOP and get medical advise from a qualified physician before continuing with this or any training or exercise program.

The following program was designed to be used with regular practice for the average athlete or by itself for the person or child who just wants to increase their physical ability and health. It may not be suitable for everyone and may be modified to suit smaller children. Remember, this program is only a guideline and more advanced athletes may increase the number of repetitions or modify it (except elite athlete exercises) according to their schedule and resources available to them.

If body-building and weight training is what you are pursuing, please get the advice of a qualified trainer before engaging in this type of activity. Because children’s bodies are not fully developed, weight training should NOT be a part of their exercise and fitness program. The use of light weights by older athletes to enhance their training, is okay, but, should be overseen by a trained professional.

The seriousness and dedication you exhibit towards your training program, will determine the results you obtain.

The MOST important thing any athlete should say to themselves is:

"If it's going to be, it's up to me, and nobody else!"

Good luck to all of you who are training to be the best at whatever sport you chooses to conquer.
