Bicycle Routes

Two Bicycle Loops were proposed by the North Andover Police Department Safety Officer, Sgt. Fred Soucy and approved by the North Andover Selectmen at their meeting on January 7, 2002.

These loops will be marked with Share the Road Bicycle Safety Signs. The signs are being purchased through donations to the North Andover Bicycle Advocacy Committee, and will be installed by the North Andover Division of Public Works. The first sign was installed near the Old Town Common on June 13, 2002.

Loop 1: Begin East on Salem Street near the Old Town Common, left on Dale Street, pass Town Farm and Smolak Farms, right on Winter Street, pass Bruin Hill, right on Foster Street, pass Foster Farm and right onto Salem to complete the loop back to the Old Town Common.

Loop 2: Begin East on Salem Street near the Old Town Common, right on Abbott Street, jog left at Rea Street, near Sargent School, pass Reynolds Field and James Swamp, right on Chestnut Street, right on Milk Street, pass Drummond Playground, left on Johnson, which will complete the loop back to the Old Town Common.

What you can do:

Whether you’re a group or an individual, participating in the Buy-A-Sign program is easy. Simply donate $60 (cost of one sign) or whatever you can. Your donation will help pay for Share The Road signs along these and subsequent routes, sign maintenance and other bicycle safety programs in North Andover. Twenty signs are needed to complete these initial routes. Donors will be recognized for their generosity and contribution to the safety of North Andover’s residents and visitors.
